With an effort to keep the momentum of the anti-government corruption movement going, the members of Opposition held protests outside Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) offices in Kampala; the Opposition is rallying behind a Kampala resident, Okot Jackson who had his cell phone pick pocketed in a crowded down town Kampala earlier this week.

Speaking to UCN, a distressed Okot exclaimed, “My friend, I was minding my own business, going crossing from Owino Market to the Bus Park on my way to Gulu and had my new iPhone stolen!. Uganda Revenue Authority and KCCA are causing pain to the common man”

Okot has threatened to camp at Kagina’s house in case the government does not roll back excise and custom duties on imported cell phones to ease pressure on Ugandans ambitions of owning the latest iPhone, “Wewe look, this is a conspiracy against the common man by the Government, isn’t the inflation enough that I have my latest iPhone stolen by Government cronies? The iPhone costs only $300 in the US, but 3.5 million Ugandan shillings in Uganda! Why the *beep* is there a price difference? We demand an inquiry into Kagina’s assets, all this evidence points towards her receiving kickbacks from KCCA and Apple.”

Kagina has denied any such wrong doings and dismissed all accusations. Speaking on the issue, Kagina  has blamed the Opposition for playing cheap politics, “they are trying to capture the imagination of the youth by enticing them with swanky iPhones, we condemn such.”

KCCA’s Director, Jeniffer Musisi is skeptic about the whole saga “Why would anyone travel through the dusty and crowded downtown Kampala streets on foot rather than chauffeur driven Mercedes?”, she asked when contacted by UCN
