As the New Year’s Eve celebrations began, the potholes of around Kampala city gathered together to ring in the new year.

“Here’s to another year of causing headaches for drivers!” exclaimed one pothole around Najeera 1.

“Haaaappppyyy Neeeew Yeaaaaaar!!!” the others cheered in unison, with they got filled upi with tears of joy.

“I can’t believe it’s already been another year of causing accidents and ruining tires,” said a particularly deep pothole around Kamwokya. “But I have a feeling that this next year is going to be even better.”

The potholes giggled mischievously as they imagined all the havoc they would wreak in the coming months.

“I can’t wait to see the look on people’s faces when they hit me on their morning commute,” cackled a small but pesky pothole around Kinawataka.

“And let’s not forget about all the damage we’ll do to those fancy sports cars,” added a wide pothole in Namugongo. “There’s nothing like the sound of a tire popping to bring a smile to my jagged edges.”

As the clock struck midnight, the potholes raised their cracks to the sky and shouted, “Happy New Year, everyone! May it be filled with as many blown tires and ruined suspensions as possible!”

Most Kampala city drives could only shake their heads and sigh as they navigated the treacherous roadways back home, praying that the potholes would somehow miraculously repair themselves in the coming year. But deep down, they knew it was a wish that would never come true
